Emerging opportunities

Call for Playwrights/Dramaturgs

Anahat Theatre is looking for a playwright/dramaturg to join our team. This is an unpaid opportunity but we believe the experience will be mutually beneficial. Our project will start with a 6-week development workshop that will generate material and ideas for our future play through movement, storytelling, self-fictionalisation and improvisation. Candidates should be open to collaboration, improvisation and devised work. The playwright/dramaturg will help the director and cast develop and lead writing on our new project.   This is an ensemble-developed project and the playwright/dramaturg should be comfortable with helping to refine, give shape, write and support multiple voices into one script. We will write the script together and the role of the playwright is to join the unity of multiple voices. Experience with devised, group creation and/or improvisational work is a plus but not compulsory. Being Edinburgh based is important but we are happy to work with people who are able to travel from other parts of Scotland (we can discuss the coverage of travel expenses). Successful playwrights/dramaturgs should plan on being at rehearsals every Monday from 7pm to 9pm.
